Standards in industry

It is getting harder and harder to find a company that is not covered by some quality standard. The reason for this is simple. Standards like ISO 9001 are well renowned among customers and contractors of these companies and thus make them sure that the products or services these companies offer are up to what they expect. Standards may work nation wise but as well internationally or even globally. For example European Union companies can use European Standards for their trade within the EU. Another possible division of standards is according to the branch of industry companies are involved in. EN 71-1, Automotive standards, EN 14492-1 and many more are used for different branches.
